Get the Lolita Look!

Lolita is so much fun! Make sure that same enthusiam and wow is exhibited in your store displays. The holidays are just a few short months away. Why not dedicate one holiday tree to the Lolita look! Here in C.R. Gibson’s showroom (Right), they display one white tree next to a unit filled with Lolita product. Decorate the tree in the Lolita colors of pink, blue, green, purple, and yellow ornaments and ribbons. Top it off with white lights to enhance the mood.

Merch1Merch2Left, Santa Barbara Design Studio painted one entire wall in Lolita’s pink color to really help her logo and product pop! The bright, fun, contrasting color will really help add piazzaz to your store and will draw your customers into the area. With so much excitement, who can resist?

In the lower left image, C. R. Gibson created an end unit display using Lolita’s acrylic drinkware. With the brightly painted wall and with the pink accent desk, they have pulled together a look that’s hard to miss. Take it one step further and paint picture frames in Lolita’s accent colors of yellow, blue and pink. Frame up the products to make the whole display pop.

Finally, we have one last tip. Do you have the Lolita Light Up Acrylic drinkware from C.R. Gibson? If so, make sure and turn those babies on! You don’t have to turn them all on, but select one or two glasses specifically for display only. Show your customers how it works and watch sales soar.

Meet the One and Only Lolita

LolitaStandingQ: How did you get started?
A: It all started with a girls’ night out…. one that contained more than the usual laughter and fun. Browsing for the first time through a martini menu, I was inspired by the recipes. After being served a Cosmopolitan, my creative imagination made me see the glass differently — the way I thought it should be — a bit more dressed up with a pattern, with flair, and with a fabulous recipe on the bottom. It would be the first of many times I would find a colorful vision dancing in a glass.

That was in 2001, and after sketching, planning and nurturing the line, the “Love My Martini”™ collection blossomed in 2004 to quickly become the hottest gift brand in America today.

At the beginning of my career, I painted every single glass by hand, by myself, in my basement… The business quickly outgrew my ability to keep up with demand and I signed a licensing deal with Santa Barbara Design Studio in 2004.

But it really started much earlier than that. From a young age, I knew that I wanted to be a designer. My teachers knew me as the girl who colored leaves blue to match the sky. I saw anything and everything from an artistic perspective. What I didn’t know then was that my innate creativity would lead me to my successful design career.

Q: Is Lolita your real name?
A: Lolita is actually my middle name. My first name is Tracy. As a child I was made fun of for my middle name, but then a college professor told me that I should never be ashamed, as Lolita is “the most beautiful and timeless piece of 20th century classic literature.” From that moment on, I knew that I would use the name someday… and I did.

Q: Tell us something about yourself?
A: I am a mother of two (teenage girls, nonetheless!) and I am especially close to my own mother. Maybe that’s why I have so many fabulous designs for all of the moms out there! Plus I graduated Magna Cum Laude from Mary Baldwin College in Virginia, with a double major in Marketing and Fine Arts… Who says smart girls don’t know how to have fun?!

Q: Is there a deep secret you’d like to share with us?
A: Yes, I am a confessed shopaholic. I am drawn to beautiful things… I love to shop… the adrenalin rush that I get just pulling up to my favorite stores!

Q: How do you go about designing the styles for each glass?
A: I have to understand my customer in order for my line to be successful. I still know that each design I create is as unique as the person buying it. That philosophy has worked for all these years and I take pride in knowing how unique each design is.
