With content being posted on Instagram every minute, daily bloggers, stores and social media lovers are in constant search of attractive ways to share their favorite products. Flat lays are have become a standard for product displays and the favorite way to share content for many bloggers. Anybody can take a lay down shot but only the pros know how to make it stand out! Here are some tips to help your Instagram gallery perfectly polished.

Flat lay tip #1: Have a flat lay theme. True, you have a bunch of random objects grouped together, but those objects should have a purpose, and they should tell a story. For example, your theme could be vacation packing, date night, or beauty bag goodies. Pick a theme then snap away!Flat lay Shot Tip 1

Flat lay tip #2: Create a posh Instagram feed and poised to perfection with a neutral background as a backdrop. Remember, your items should be the main focus in the photo so white sheets, rugs, countertops and the trending marble surfaces, make for great backdrops.

Flat lay tip #3: This is a simple tip, but effective all the same. When you are arranging your items in your flat lay, make sure to leave some space in-between each item. This way, the image you capture looks both organized and pretty.

On Trend with Jane Marie

Blog post written by Dwaina Kerr; Jane Marie

jm 1

Jane Marie started as a charm company and has grown to a large line offering various styles that cater to all women and their own unique styles. We stay up to date on the current trends without straying from our vintage flair. Our designs this Fall continue with the latest trends using mixed metals and texture, natural stones, wooden beads, leather, fringe and tassels. You will see that Boho is still very much in trend and Jane Marie also continues to introduce jewelry in the hues coinciding with the Pantones® for the season.

The Pantone® for the Fall is a color palette led by the Blue family (coming from the desire for tranquility, strength, and optimism). Along with earth tones, exuberant pops of vibrant colors will appear which is different from the typical fall colors. Blues represent constancy, Grays give a feeling of stability, Red tones confidence and warmth, while the hot Pinkish Purples and Mustard Yellows a touch of the exotic.

Jane Marie also offers displays for ease and convenience. This makes it fast for retailers to receive product and get it on the floor for retail. The displays along with SKUs allow for easy monitoring of sales for reorders.

Costume jewelry is affordable, stylish, and a GREAT way to stay in trend without investing a lot.

Care for your jewelry will insure that it looks better and last longer!

KEEP IT CLEAN

One of the best tips is learning how to keep costume jewelry looking its best. Keep your jewelry clean. Do not expose jewelry to lotion, perfume, oil, water or any harsh chemicals. Be sure to always take off your jewelry before you apply lotion or perfume. Do not wear while bathing, swimming or expose it to any water.

GIVE IT A BREAK

Next give your costume jewelry a break. Most fashion jewelry isn’t meant to be worn daily. If you do wear daily, you might notice discoloration. Costume jewelry will also look better and last longer if worn occasionally.

BAG IT

How should you store your costume jewelry? The best way to prevent tarnishing, chipping, tangling and damage is by storing your costume jewelry in a soft pouch or individual plastic bag.

TAKE IT OFF

We know that we should not wear the same piece of costume jewelry daily, but also you should   take it off at the end of the day. You should consider costume jewelry like makeup, you never want to sleep with it on. Sleeping with your jewelry on is a way to damage it or even break it.

KEEP IT CLEAN

Costume jewelry should be cleaned after each time you wear it. It might be time consuming and a hassle, but it will make a difference in how long it lasts and the way it looks. There’s always the chance that you got soap, lotion, or just the oil from your skin on your jewelry, so don’t put it away before you wipe it down with a soft cloth.

3 Reasons You Can’t Afford to Ignore Outdoor Décor

Article written by Maura Lodes, Studio M

True or False? I should only carry outdoor décor products during spring and summer seasons.

True or False? If I own a gift shop, I don’t need to pay attention to outdoor décor trends.

False and false! Decorating the garden is an easy way to make a unique and beautiful statement all year round. Now more than ever, consumers are looking for one-of-a-kind, garden décor for each season. And shoppers aren’t just looking in garden centers for unique outdoor items – they’re buying them in gift shops, hardware stores, florists, and more. In fact, more than half of Studio M customers are gift shops!

As an independent retailer, you have the opportunity to become a destination for unique, seasonal décor for the garden. Use displays to inspire your customers to decorate outdoors year-round, not just for spring and summer. Your unique offering will help shoppers think beyond traditional seasonal décor like wreaths and Christmas lights. Help your customers create a unique outdoor statement that will make their home stand out!

So, let’s break it down. Here are the top reasons why carrying seasonal outdoor décor will benefit you as an independent retailer, and how we at Studio M can help you keep up with this trend:

Whether you’re creating your own display or using one of ours, you can cycle through products easily – pop in new winter designs right in place of fall items, spring in place of winter, and so on as the seasons change. Your display will take up about the same footprint each season, making that space both efficient and profitable. Our high-quality seasonal products will drive repeat sales by giving your customers a reason to continually come back to your store. Outdoor décor is a valuable category that should definitely be a part of your product mix. Your customers will be excited to replace the fall Art Planters and MatMate by their front door with a new set for Christmas!

It’s a Proven Category that Continues to Grow.

According to recent trend reports, the garden décor category has continued to grow over the past few years as a direct response to the trend of “bringing the indoors out.” In other words, consumers are looking to create an outdoor space that is an extension of their home and a reflection of their personality – increasing year-round demand for artful garden products. With four seasons to cover, outdoor décor is a broad, valuable category that’s worth has been proven by independent retailers across the country.  There’s always a reason to decorate, so consumers are constantly on the lookout for unique décor. Whether it’s for the holidays like Thanksgiving or Christmas, special occasions like a birthday or baby shower, or just to celebrate the changing of the seasons, Studio M offers items for every occasion. Retailers do well with our products because they’re beautifully designed, high quality, and unlike anything else on the market.

At Studio M, we want to make your job as a retailer a little easier. We know you don’t always have time to search through hundreds of products to create a cohesive offering, so we’ve curated collections for you. Our garden collections make it simple to find items you can use to create an eye-catching, coordinated display in your store. There are collections for each season, so no matter what time of year it is, you can have a beautiful, cohesive presentation in your store. Displaying products from a garden collection together – like Art Planters, MatMates, and BreezeArt flags – is a great way to increase cross-sales by showing customers what these products could look like in their own homes. Offering unique seasonal outdoor décor will keep customers coming back to your store all year long!

From BreezeArt flags to Art Planters, Studio M’s artful décor will allow your customers to warmly welcome fall, bring life to the stark winter season, celebrate the arrival of spring, and embrace the joy of summer. With our unique seasonal products, customers can break out of traditional garden décor and express their personal styles and interests.
