Q: Tell us a little about your company, how long in business, how you got started, etc.

A: Beachcombers has been around for over 70 years and, believe it or not, when presented with the opportunity to buy the company in 2015 – it was not love at first sight. The previous owners and I both agreed that it would be good to spend about six months learning about the business and it was during this time that I got hooked. Being the entrepreneur that I am, it did not take me long to see there was a great foundation in place, and I quickly saw the future, which is now Beachcombers Coastal Life.

A: When it comes to product, we stick to what we know; Coastal. We have six lines which are Coastal Gifts, Coastal Decor, Coastal Holiday, Coastal Threads, Coastal Accessories, and Coastal Kids.  The uniqueness of each product line is a reflection of our carefully selected product team’s commitment to those lines and our mission, which is to never be boring, never stop being inspired, and never stop caring about what the end consumer wants in coastal products. 

 

What makes our products different from the other wholesalers? It is our intense focus on the coastal genre; it’s that simple. We put more time and energy into this genre than any other company out there, and that, in turn, is what makes unique products.

A: Focusing on our specifically targeted end consumer. We get our inspirations and trend direction from multiple sources including international fashion and home shows, online trend services, market research partners, and lifestyle magazines such as Coastal living, Cottage & Bungalow. This helps to keep our focus sharp on the aspirational lifestyle products we offer.

 

Q: What do you love most about attending the markets? 

A: Feedback is by far the most valuable offering at the markets for us. Finding out what we’re doing right, and what we can do better. We’re in the business of helping our customers grow their business. The markets are great place to understand and appreciate the world of our retail partners and improve our offerings.

A: Honestly, our retailers love our products because they retail well. Consumers want memories, and love to dream. Our products aim to keep those things alive through aspirational product offerings that are suitable in every home.

 

Q: What does the future hold for Beachcombers Coastal Life?  Maybe a small sneak peek into future product expansions, ideas, etc.

A: 2016 brought about the inception of our décor and holiday lines, as well as a tremendous amount of awesome Improvement within the company; top to bottom.

 

Come January 2017 we will be launching three new complete lines:

  • Coastal Threads, which consists of women’s and men’s fashion.
  • Coastal Accessories, which consists of outfit completers – from jewelry and hats – to totes.
  • Coastal Kid, a line which will include boys and girls fashion, swim, and living – and one which is particularly special to me because of my own children.

2017 will see further improvement of all of our lines, as well as these exciting launches. Beyond that though? Well, we are going to keep that a secret for now! Rest assured though, it is going to be spectacular!

Q: Tell us a little about your company, how long in business, how you got started, etc.

pgd-1A: P. Graham Dunn is a family owned and operated business, nestled in the heart of Amish country that started back in 1976 by Peter and LeAnna Dunn. A few years prior to starting the business, Peter and LeAnna accepted a mission to open a home for runaway girls in New York City. In order to keep the girls occupied, they initiated a small woodworking business. The girls carved plaques and gifts that quickly became popular at the Greenwich Village outdoor markets. Little did they know this side-business would lead to a full-time operation. Now, 40 years later, P. Graham Dunn is leading manufacturer of inspirational art, gift and home decor within the United States.

 

Q: What are your product offerings? What’s unique about your products vs. other manufacturers?

A: Inspirational home décor manufactured in the USA! We offer a variety of handcrafted products made from commodity materials. In addition, 95% of our product is designed in-house by our extremely talented team of designers. We are also proud to employ a workforce that is primarily Amish and Mennonite, which in turn makes up a strong, family-oriented culture within the walls of our factory and warehouse.

A: Our designers and product development team have a keen eye for new designs and product ideas that are both on-trend and resonating with our shoppers.  We are consistently scouring the market for new, unique product ideas, as well as, listening to our customers and adapting to their needs.

 

Q: What do you love most about attending the markets?

A: We love getting to meet with our customers and grow the relationships we have with them, as well as, showcasing our new product and seeing the response we get from buyers.  Each show is an adrenaline rush, as we have opportunity to share our new designs with the market.

A: We believe that our products resonate with our customers.  We take pride in creating products that warm the heart and inspire the soul.  Our purpose is to bring products to market that are uplifting and positive. Our customers also love that we are Made in the USA!

Q: What does the future hold for P. Graham Dunn? Maybe a small sneak peek into future product expansions, ideas, etc.

A: We are currently expanding our factory and warehouse, taking us from 120,000 sq. ft to a 266,000 sq. ft. With this additional capacity, we’ll be able to introduce new technologies and equipment that will continue to enhance our product offering. In addition, we are working on our Spring introduction which will build upon our current product offering and will include several new designs and ideas. Expect continued expansion on the farmhouse look with clean designs, and rustic simplicity.

A: We launched the Sloane Ranger brand at the end of 2011.  However, our parent company (Prime Source Accessories) has been in the gift and accessory industry for 32 years!  We love the timeless Sloane Ranger story and background (Princess Diana was the first Sloane Ranger!) and in 2011 thought it was the perfect time to bring this classically cool styling across the pond to the US.  The Sloane Ranger brand is inspired by the effortlessly chic style seen on the streets of London’s Sloane Square in Chelsea.  We are all about merging classic British prep with modern day styles and silhouettes.

 

wallQ: What are your product offerings?  What’s unique about your products vs. other manufacturers?

A: Currently our product assortment is comprised of high quality bags and accessories.  Our classic preppy motifs combined with new and current styling makes our collection a hit with specialty boutique retailers around the country.

 

 

Q: Where do you get your inspirations and trend direction from for new products?

A:  All of our direction is based off the classic Sloane Ranger styling from London.  Our designs are rooted in timeless classic motifs but designed in new and fresh colorways and silhouettes.  This season you will see a few new handbag silhouettes that are based off emerging silhouettes on the fashion scene.  For instance, the bucket bag style is coming back in a big way this season and we have launched our own version in our classic printed canvas material.  This bag is sure to be a hit amongst preppy fashionistas.

Q: What do you love most about attending the markets? 

A: We love that each market presents us with an opportunity to tell our story and show our brand to new people.  We also love connecting with our existing customers and showing them new additions to our collection.  We just really love the exposure the markets bring and all of the positive energy!

Q: Why do customers love your products?

A: Customers love our products because they love not only how they look, but also how they stand up over time.  Our focus has always been on quality paired with modern preppy design.  Further, when people learn the story and background of Sloane Ranger (this is a great reference for more background information about the Sloane Ranger carterm) they want to learn more and connect with our brand.  We have a weekly fashion blog, Modern Prep Gazette, where we share articles about the Sloane Ranger lifestyle as well as keep active on all of our social networks.  We are constantly sharing new content that relates to our brand and our customers have really loved it!

Q: What does the future hold for Sloane Ranger?  Maybe a small sneak peek into future product expansions, ideas, etc.

A:  First of all we are so excited to join the OneCoast team to kick off 2015!  As far as future product expansions – we don’t want to give away too much but we do want you to know that any new product will be carefully planned to fit within the Sloane Ranger lifestyle.  You can certainly count on it to be timeless and preppy!

She and her husband, Curt, kicked the idea around and finally came up with a solution that took the market by storm – MailWraps magnetic mailbox covers. Now, more than 25 years later, the family-owned business has grown to support more than 60 employees and has been recognized as an industry leader in outdoor décor.

A: Studio M by Magnet Works thrives on innovation. From our very first product to our newest lines, innovative design, beautiful artwork, and high quality have always been our priorities. A: Inspiration comes from so many places. Our product development team tries to stay current on websites, blogs and social media to see what products, colors, themes and sentiments people are discussing and sharing. Quite often artists will approach us with new artwork for a category or a new product concept and will speak to certain trends in their presentation. Knowing how best to apply that information to each product category is what sets us apart.

 

Q: What do you love most about attending the markets? 

A: Markets are a great opportunity to connect with our community – retailers, artists, and friends in the industry. We love getting feedback from our customers and hearing how they react to our new products. It’s always so exciting to have the artists in our showrooms seeing their products for the first time. They’re some of the best in the industry, and we’re so lucky to work with them. And finally, we love catching up with our friends and peers in the industry that we’ve grown alongside all these years.

Q: Why do customers love your products?

welcomeA: Customers love our products because, like us, they appreciate beautiful artwork. Our products provide people with an easy way to bring artwork into their homes or gardens so that it can be enjoyed every single day. We strive to make products that awaken the creative spirit and encourage self-expression.

A: We will continue to introduce products that excite us. We are looking into each of our product categories to see how we can bring newness either with artwork, subject matter, sentiments, theme, etc. or with innovation to materials. We are mindful of how product categories are merchandised at the retail level so we are also looking into tools to help shop owners – like new fixtures and signage.

Meet Our New Vendors – Santa Barbara Design Studio & Olivina

OneCoast is honored to have two new vendors added to our lineup – Olivina and Santa Barbara Design Studio. Read on and learn more about these amazing vendors.
Q: Tell us a little about your company, how long in business, etc.
A: Olivina has been in business for 10 years.  Started in Napa Valley, CA, the line was inspired by our founder and Creative Director’s love of the abundant and beautiful olive orchards that cover that region.  Knowing that olive oil is wonderful, moisturizing base for a body care line, and having been an store owner and a food writer, she wanted to combine her knowledge of what sells in a retail environment, with her love of all things that evoke a sensory experience….like a lush fig or fresh lavender and come up with a premium, high quality line that is also pretty addicting in terms of scents!
Q: What are your product offerings?  What’s unique about your products vs. other manufacturers?
A: We offer all natural bath and body products such as body butters, lotions, hand creams, washes, soaps, etc.  We are proud of the fact that we are Made in the USA, do not contain any “bad” additives such as phalates, or SLS, and are produced to meet Whole Foods Premium approval standards. Combine that with our incredible scent range and beautiful packaging, and you have everything that a retailer could want in a bath and body product offering!
Q: Where do you get your inspirations for new products?
A: Any “sensory” experience can be the inspiration for a new scent or product – a wonderful meal, travel to a new place, etc.
Q: What do you love most about being at the trade shows?
A: Seeing people’s reaction to the product!!  Our body butters are offered to sample and customers put it on and just start raving about how immediately their hands feel softer, look better, etc.  They go crazy for the scents, often running out of places on their hands and forearms to “try” each different scent.
Q: Why do customers love your products?
A: The quality and the scents.  They WORK!  They are incredibly effective AND they smell incredible!! They truly are addictive – we have many retailers who have customers who will buy 6 hand crèmes at a time because they need them in the desk at work, in their car, in the bag, etc….and can’t live without them!
Q: What does the future hold for Olivina?  Maybe a small sneak peek into future product expansions, ideas, etc.

Q: Tell us a little about your company, how long in business, etc.
A: We started almost by accident.  Ray Markow, our Founder & CEO, hired friends to help him paint his popular ceramics that were first sold at street festivals in the ‘70s.  By 1995 Santa Barbara Ceramic Design had become one of the largest ceramics factories in CA, and its work from the ‘70s & ‘80s is still highly prized by collectors nationwide.  But by 2008, the company once known for painting irises on porcelain had changed.  Santa Barbara Design Studio evolved into a leader in licensed design giftware, producing a full range of products in a broad collection of materials. However, the goal has always been the same – to provide on-trend & stylish gifts with the timeless appeal of truly good design.

We are inspired by the trends and artists and products that inspire us!  We watch what’s happening in fashion and high-end home decor and handmade — here at home and around the world — and then bring that to the gift market so that our customers can enjoy them as well!
Q: What do you love most about being at the trade shows?
A: Spending time with our customers!  It is such a thrill to get one-on-one face time with our customers during the busy trade show months.  We just love getting to hear feedback about the year and the successes they have experienced selling our products!  And of course, showing them our exciting new product releases.
Q: Why do customers love your products?
A: Because we are a company that knows women and gifting!  We make products that women want to have and women want to gift.  We travel the world for inspiration and look for products & designs to create products FOR women.  We have our fingers on the pulse of what is happening in the market place from coast to coast. Creating on-trend and fashionable products for today and into tomorrow is our passion and it shows!
Q: What does the future hold for Santa Barbara Design Studio?  Maybe a small sneak peek into future product expansions, ideas, etc. 
A: We are always watching out for “what’s next” and looking to find new artists to add to our stable of fabulous collections. There’s not a show season that goes by without us bringing you something brand new and exciting. You can count on some exciting new introductions coming in Summer 2013!
