Jane Marie | Keeping It Rural

Written by: Ashley Thompson, OneCoast Visual Merchandising Liaison for Jane Marie Atlanta

Staying true to your identity isn’t always easy in the fashion industry, but Jane Marie owners Janie and Jeff have found a way to stay true to their roots while offering trendy and affordable clothing and jewelry for children and adults. Self-described as “rustic, shabby, chic,” what started as a charm company in 2014 based in Northern Louisiana has grown into a booming business over the past four years. Since its launch, the brand has expanded into tees and tanks for moms, dads and their mini me’s. This year, for the first time ever, they will also offer sweatshirts and pajamas for the whole family. With classic southern slogans like “Lord Willin’ and the Creek Don’t Rise” and “Y’all Ain’t Right” proudly printed on their apparel. It’s no wonder why Jane Marie has charmed their way (no pun intended) from the showroom right onto buyer’s shelves. OneCoast is home to Jane Marie’s showroom and had the opportunity to see the magic behind the scenes. Here is a sneak peek of their fall/winter 2018 show setup and what the OneCoast visual team has had the pleasure of creating over the past few months.

Necklaces are available on OneCoast.com and through you Territory Manager.

Do you want to help those affected by the Louisiana Floods of August 2016? Four days of torrential rain produced unprecedented flooding across South Louisiana that was worse than hurricanes of the past.  Places that had never flooded before flooded.  The deluge damaged or destroyed more than 100,000 homes, more than 40,000 people were rescued, and multitude have been left homeless, stranded in shelters after the rains did stop.  This disaster struck without warning or giving people time to prepare.

What is the Louisiana Flood Relief Fund? The Louisiana Flood Relief Fund was established with a $100,000 gift from Baton Rouge Area Foundation assets to help people in North Louisiana after the spring flooding. Louisiana Flood Relief Fund have given grants to meet the needs of those that easily get overlooked in a crisis, like providing money to house families with children who have autism and could not live in a noisy shelter. Grants to assist damaged schools and displaced students.

Jane Marie Jewelry had family and friends affected during both of the floods this year.  After seeing firsthand the amount of damage and devastation we wanted to help in the recovery. So Jane Marie has designed a delicate carded necklace “Spread Love” and is giving 100% of the proceeds to the Louisiana Flood Relief Fund.

Jane Marie started as a charm company and has grown to a large line offering various styles that cater to all women and their own unique styles. We stay up to date on the current trends without straying from our vintage flair. Our designs this Fall continue with the latest trends using mixed metals and texture, natural stones, wooden beads, leather, fringe and tassels. You will see that Boho is still very much in trend and Jane Marie also continues to introduce jewelry in the hues coinciding with the Pantones® for the season.

The Pantone® for the Fall is a color palette led by the Blue family (coming from the desire for tranquility, strength, and optimism). Along with earth tones, exuberant pops of vibrant colors will appear which is different from the typical fall colors. Blues represent constancy, Grays give a feeling of stability, Red tones confidence and warmth, while the hot Pinkish Purples and Mustard Yellows a touch of the exotic.

Costume jewelry is affordable, stylish, and a GREAT way to stay in trend without investing a lot.

Care for your jewelry will insure that it looks better and last longer!

KEEP IT CLEAN

One of the best tips is learning how to keep costume jewelry looking its best. Keep your jewelry clean. Do not expose jewelry to lotion, perfume, oil, water or any harsh chemicals. Be sure to always take off your jewelry before you apply lotion or perfume. Do not wear while bathing, swimming or expose it to any water.

GIVE IT A BREAK

Next give your costume jewelry a break. Most fashion jewelry isn’t meant to be worn daily. If you do wear daily, you might notice discoloration. Costume jewelry will also look better and last longer if worn occasionally.

BAG IT

How should you store your costume jewelry? The best way to prevent tarnishing, chipping, tangling and damage is by storing your costume jewelry in a soft pouch or individual plastic bag.

TAKE IT OFF

We know that we should not wear the same piece of costume jewelry daily, but also you should   take it off at the end of the day. You should consider costume jewelry like makeup, you never want to sleep with it on. Sleeping with your jewelry on is a way to damage it or even break it.

KEEP IT CLEAN

Costume jewelry should be cleaned after each time you wear it. It might be time consuming and a hassle, but it will make a difference in how long it lasts and the way it looks. There’s always the chance that you got soap, lotion, or just the oil from your skin on your jewelry, so don’t put it away before you wipe it down with a soft cloth.
