Be Great Today

dbJohn Keiser, CEO of OneCoast, started our “Be Great Today” series. His first post sparked interest and
excitement within our company! We will be asking other OneCoast team members what “Be Great Today” means to them and how they work that into their professional and (sometimes) personal life! Sharing his thoughts this month is David Brogna, OneCoast Showroom Manager.

Q: What does “be great today” mean to you?

DB: It means being focused on my goals from the moment I wake up to the moment I go to sleep. Not “calling” it in and be driven at task at hand. Be positive for my team each and every day.

Q: What can you do to “be great today”?

DB: Show up and put forth your best effort. I have high expectations and expect a lot from myself each day but as long as I show up and put forth my best, I can accomplish great things.

Q: How do you encourage others to do the same?

DB: Lead by example.  There isn’t anything I would I ask my team, that I wouldn’t do myself.

Q: What is your favorite motivational quote? How do you apply that your everyday routine/job?

DB: I am not exactly sure that it is a motivational quote but, “You learn something new every day.”   It may just sound like a phrase to most, but years ago I took it to heart and decided to learn something new each day.  Some days it may just be as simple as googling and researching and others it may be taking a class or learning a trade.  Here at OneCoast I have learned more about vendors, shipping, IT, construction and much more that apply to my job on a daily basis.

CDJohn Keiser, CEO of OneCoast, started our “Be Great Today” series. His first post sparked interest and
excitement within our company! We will be asking other OneCoast team members what “Be Great Today” means to them and how they work that into their professional and (sometimes) personal life! Sharing her thoughts this month is Catie Dolgos, DEMDACO Account Executive.

Q: What does “be great today” mean to you?

CD: “Be Great Today,” is a reminder for me to make the most of every day both personally and professionally. It’s about being focused and consistent in my efforts knowing that one great day leads to another. It represents the feeling of satisfaction that I get at the end of the day knowing that I have done everything within my power to be my personal best.

Q: What can you do to “be great today”?

CD: I strive to be great today by recognizing that today is one stepping stone in my path to success. I wake up each day with a positive attitude and have a plan of what I want to accomplish. I have created a daily routine to my work day that helps me to stay focused and consistent. I make sure that I am prepared for my day and have a game plan to achieve my daily goal and a backup plan to ensure a successful day.

Q: How do you encourage others to do the same?

CD: We are all fortunate, here at OneCoast to work with so many talented people that come from many different backgrounds and experiences. Each and every one of us offers a different perspective and point of view and we can all learn so much from each other. I encourage others by sharing my ideas, suggestions and success stories and asking them to share theirs. I value the strengths that each person brings to the table and I am inspired by their successes.

Q: What is your favorite motivational quote? How do you apply that your everyday routine/job?

CD: “Sail beyond the horizon; fly higher than you ever thought possible; magnify your existence by helping others; be kind to people and animals of all shapes and sizes; be true to what you value most; shine your light on the world; and be the person you were born to be.” – Blake Beattie

I love this quote because it is very simply stated and really encompasses what it means to be a good person, to spread positive energy and enthusiasm and to push yourself to reach your greatest potential. I apply it to my everyday routine by going outside of my comfort zone and letting go of my fear of failure or rejection to find new business opportunities and overcome objections. It helps me remember to see the big picture and help my clients grow their business beyond just selling them product. It reminds me to take a deep breath and be patient and kind at all times, to remain true to my core values and beliefs and to allow myself to enjoy the success that I have worked so hard to achieve.

John Keiser, CEO of OneCoast, started our “Be Great Today” series. His first post sparked interest and excitement within our company! We will be asking other OneCoast team members what “Be Great Today” means to them and how they work that into their professional and (sometimes) personal life! Sharing her thoughts this month DPis Delmetris Peterkin, Customer Relations Representative.

Q: What does “be great today” mean to you?

DP: “Being great today” means for me to set goals for myself and to be focused to achieve them. No matter how big or small the task is, I must put my best foot forward to accomplish my goal. Even if I don’t achieve them daily knowing that I have put forth my best effort I would feel that I am great today!

Q: What can you do to “be great today”?

DP: I can be great today by putting forth my best effort in my work life (answering calls and helping customers by taking orders, resolving issues, helping coworkers and management as needed, etc), personal life (spending quality time with my spouse, children and grandchildren, parents, siblings, et), friends and people in general (helping out when needed by giving an open ear, opening doors, etc).

Q: How do you encourage others to do the same?

DP: I would encourage others to be ‘great today” by “leading by example” and hopefully my work would speak for me.

Q: What is your favorite motivational quote? How do you apply that your everyday routine/job?

DP: One of my favorite quotes is.: “If you don’t stand for something, you will fall for anything”! I apply this quote everyday in my job. I stand up and believe in my job and by doing so I do not fall for any of the obstacles that may come to prevent me from “being great today”!

Be Great Today

TMJohn Keiser, CEO of OneCoast, started our “Be Great Today” series. His first post sparked interest and excitement within our company! We will be asking other OneCoast team members what “Be Great Today” means to them and how they work that into their professional and (sometimes) personal life! Sharing her thoughts this month is Tammy Myers, HR Administrative Assistant.

Q: What does “be great today” mean to you?

TM: “Be Great Today” means giving 100% in all that you do.  Approaching every task with a positive attitude even when the task might be difficult or something you don’t necessarily want to do.  Staying focused, driven and passionate about what you are doing and determined in your heart that you will succeed.  Respecting the opinions of others, leading by example and striving to inspire those around you to do the same.

Q: What can you do to “be great today”?

TM: [Responses below]

  • Realize that every day is a gift. We are not promised tomorrow so strive to be the very best in all areas of your life.
  • Make sure you keep your priorities in the right order and in balance.
  • Realize that no one is perfect so don’t be afraid to admit that you are wrong and apologize if necessary. Learn from your mistakes and move on.  Always look forward and remember that we start each day with a fresh slate.
  • Set goals for yourself and never give up no matter how long it takes. Challenge yourself to go even higher.
  • Find something good in every situation. Believe that there is a reason or purpose for everything that we go through including our trials.  I like this quote from Abraham Lincoln, “We can complain that rose bushes have thorns, or rejoice because thorn bushes have roses.”

Q: How do you encourage others to do the same?

TM: [Responses below]

  • Most importantly, live by example. Sometimes we only have one opportunity to make a difference in someone’s life so make it count.
  • Treat people the way that you would want to be treated.
  • Encourage, motivate and recognize people for their achievements whether great or small.
  • Realize that everyone is unique and has their own talents and abilities. Don’t expect more from someone than you are willing to give yourself.
  • Remember that everyone is important and has a purpose. I think of OneCoast as a puzzle and each of us as a piece in that puzzle.  Each piece is unique and serves a different purpose but no one piece is more important than the other and if even one piece is missing then we are incomplete.

Q: What is your favorite motivational quote? How do you apply that your everyday routine/job?

TM: “Don’t judge each day by the harvest you reap, but by the seeds that you plant.”  ~ Robert Louis Stevenson

I love this quote because it reminds me that it’s not always about ME.  Sometimes it is about planting those seeds of kindness, friendship, encouragement, etc. for the other person.

“I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.”  ~ God

Anyone that knows me very well, knows that my hope and trust is found in the Lord.  For years, I kept a sign on my desk that read, “Good Morning, This is God.  I will be handling all your problems today.  I don’t need your help.  Thank you and have a great day.”  I have faith that God will never give me more than I can bear and will strengthen me through any trials that I might go through.
